"L'angeli l'hanno fatte le canzoni, quanno se canta non se pensa male".

"Questo antico motto popolare abruzzese esprime nel modo migliore lo spirito del Coro Monti Pallidi e la sua voglia di cantare"

(Sergio Maccagnan).

The Choir Monti Pallidi of Laives is an association of people united by a real passion for popular songs, or rather that musical heritage that refers back to the traditions, habits and customs, variety and richness of Italy. As luck would have it, these songs were first of all discovered by true scholars and then put into hands of experts who elaborated them with skill and wisdom. The musical product that has come from it still lives and is vibrant today, due to the care and dedication of whoever has made singing the reason for being together. The Choir Monti Pallidi has a history interspersed with more than a thousand conterts, shows and tours in Italy, Europe and throughout the world. In fact, it has performed in very many locations throughout Italy from the best known cities to the most remote hamlets.

The choir has sung its own melodies also in Germany, France, Switzerland, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and even Brazil, earning wide applause from the public and music critics alike. The Choir Monti Pallidi has recorded six discs over the years. Each album rapresents a milestone in its artistic evolution, emphasising change, technical and vocal growth and, above all, the style that has been progressively asserting itself. Monti Pallidi’s success has not come about by chance. It is the result of self-sacrifice and patient work. First of all there is the studio in which the choir practises, learning texts, repeating and sharpening their vocal techniques, discipline and the canons of interpretation with the aim of perfect, resonant and self-enforcing homogeneity.

In order to realise this objective, there are two evening rehearsals a week of one and half hours each on Tuesdays and Fridays at the association’s office. Then there are the concerts that amount to 30/40 a year and are usually held at the weekends with also longer events of several days that involve travelling abroad or to the more distant regions of Italy. But we get enormous satisfaction when singing in marvellous places, rich in fascination and before audiences who listen attentively and with interests and who often alow themselves to be carried away into a world of unusual harmony.

The Choir Monti Pallidi is directed by Paolo Maccagnan, a pianist by traning, a versatile musician with wide interests capable of always finding new and appealing ways of interpreting and comunicating the best musical spirit of the group and interacting profoundly with whoever is listening.
